Vacuum-aided Drainage Device:

Low diameter cannulae are useful during extracorporeal circulation and minimally invasive surgeries but it impairs the patient venous drainage. The use of negative pressure connected to the venous reservoir of the oxygenator is a simple and low cost technique to overcome this issue.

The InCor Vacuum-Aided Drainage Device consists of negative pressure regulator, air filter and electronic pressure monitor.

During in vitro tests, negative pressure as high as 250 mm Hg safely increases drainage. Clinical experiments shows that InCor Vacuum-Aided Drainage Device allows cannulas of smaller diameters from 32 to 26 Fr. Negative pressure of -62.4±11.7 mmHg provides sufficient drainage without evidence of haemolysis.
